Topics for Research Papers

Are you stuck with choosing a good topic for your research paper? There is nothing to worry about! Just focus on these 3 basic factors and you will have an idea of a perfect topic for research paper.

Number one: the topic has to be interesting for you. Choose a subject you already know something about and use this assignment as a perfect opportunity to deepen your knowledge. Ask yourself: What do I know a lot about? What do I feel strongly about? What would I like to learn more about? You will be working with this topic for some time so make sure it will not become boring to you in the process of research. But don’t be selfish either – think about your class and the reader – it has to be relevant and appropriate.

Number two: make sure your topic has enough resources that you can use. If you are facing troubles with finding information just give that topic up and don’t waste your time. While doing your research make sure that your topic has enough information for your background, opposing and supporting facts. Also there might be a problem when you have already made your thesis statement and then you find out that all of the evidence is standing against your opinion. Just change it and stick to the factual data, because you can’t build your research paper around your opinion only. You need to support it with different statistics, historical examples, and quotes. Only this kind of strong evidence can make your research paper complete. And consider the number of required pages: if you have a lot of room to fill in than you can choose a broad topics, but if you have less than 10 pages then try to narrow the topic down to something specific.

Number three: your topic has to be creative. Go for new and fresh ideas. It is a good idea to discuss your topics with other students so everybody will write about different subjects. This can help the reader of your research paper not to be bored with same topics and same information. Try to be unique and different and your research paper will be memorable and interesting.
